1949
The North Atlantic Treaty (Washington Treaty) signed in Washington, D.C. on 4 April 1949  is the treaty that forms the legal basis of, and is implemented by, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The treaty’s mutual self-defense clause was never invoked during the Cold War. It was invoked for the first time in 2001 after 11 September 2001.

1215
Magna Carta Libertatum (Great Charter) a charter of rights agreed to by King John of England to make peace between the unpopular King and a group of rebel barons. First drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury it promised the protection of church rights, protection for the barons from illegal imprisonment, admission to swift justice, and limitations on payments to the empire's Crown which was to be executed by council of 25 barons. Both sides breached their commitments, and the charter was invalided by Pope Innocent III, leading to the First Barons' War.

Section v: Lens and its uses

Lens is transperant material that bends light in some pattern/ optical device that focuses or disperses a light beam

A lens is biconcave (double convex/ just convex) if both surfaces are convex.

A lens is biconvex (double concave / just concave) if both surfaces are concave
A lens is plano-concave if one surface is concave and other is flat.

A lens is convex-concave or meniscus if one surface is convex and other is concave side.

A lens is plano-convex if one surface is convex and other is flat.

 How lens refract light:

Non - Luminous objects reflect light from luminous objects and travel to our eyes. The reflected light gets reflected by mirror and reaches our eye and we see the object on the mirror.

Uses of lens:
1)    Telescope is an optical instrument for seeing distant objects. In 1608, Galileo built the first telescope to observe the satellites of Jupiter. Telescopes are of two types a) astronomical telescopes (for viewing distance stars).Final image in the astronomical telescope is inverted.

Terrestrial telescopes (for viewing distant objects on the earth). The final image is erect

2)    Spectacles: Light enters eye thorugh the pupil. On the back of the pupil lies the retina. The retina (at the rear of the eyeball) is a layer of sensitive nerves . Rays on the retina is deciphered into an image by the brain. Eye lenses which do not focus light properly on the retina lead to vision problems a) nearsightedness where focusses rays of light in front of the retina. Concave lens can rectify the problem.
b) farsightedness where focuses rays behind the retina. convex lens can rectify the problem

3)    magnifying glass. Object placed within a focal length of a converging lens, the lens produces a magnified image.

4)    microscopes use lens systems to magnify very small objects.
6) Solar Heating
